I am used to making cake treats on a smaller scale, however, I decided to branch out and try my hand at birthday cakes. In truth, I did make a Buzz Lightyear birthday cake for my nephew in February. It was very successful and he was delighted, but it is always harder when it is for someone outside the family.
The cake in question was for a special little girls first birthday party. I decided to go girly and bake a big pink flower cake.
The process was made easier with the use of a flower shaped baking tin, but the hard part starts when it is time to ice it. I chose to use a variety of shades of pink with a large yellow centre. To my delight it turned out really well.
With her name clearly displayed in the middle she was a very happy little girl.
